Sale or Delivery of GHB – GHB is short for Gamma Hydroxybutyrate. It is a central nervous system depressant and is commonly known as a “date rape drug.” The sale or distribution of GHB is a felony charge, exposing you to years in the Florida prison system.
Like the sale or delivery of other controlled substances listed in Florida statute 893.03, the charge goes up if you are charged with selling within 1000 feet of certain places like schools, churches, daycare facilities, parks, or convenience stores.
The State will have to send the substance off to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for chemical testing to prove the charge. Without lab results proving that the substance is GHB, the State will be unable to prove the charges against you.
It is important to hire a criminal defense attorney in Pensacola who is familiar with lab protocol and who has a solid understanding of the processes and procedures the labs must go through to produce scientifically reliable – and admissible – test results.
